Which pathways? – The universe often takes the path of least resistance if you are not specific, and it can have a twisted sense of humor. Be specific about exactly what you need and when you need it by, if those conditions exist. How much, and when? – If you need $900 by the end of the month and your statement of intent says “Some unexpected money arrived”, it won’t do you any good if it arrived 2 years from now, or if it was just a dollar you found laying in a parking lot. For whatever reason the subconscious seems to ignore “not” and so “I’m not scared” = “I’m scared”. Positive, instead of negative – Instead of saying “I’m not* scared”, say “I’m brave”. Instead say something like “ I am more focused on my projects” (present tense). Present tense, instead of future – Similarly your intent should avoid phrases like “ I will be more focused on my project” as they will only succeed at keeping yourself in a pre-success state where you “ will” but you haven’t yet. Instead say something more along the lines of “I have found my lost diary”. The theory goes that writing your statement like this will only succeed in making you “ want” to. “Have”, instead of “want” – Avoid saying things like “I want to find my lost diary”. These are just some of the ones I’ve found to be most useful. There are many different ideas floating around about what constitutes a bulletproof statement of intent. Here are a few quick sum-ups by authors I highly recommend: But more importantly we are going to focus on something else, turn our attention, and not sit around consciously thinking about it and obsessing. You’ll be able to forget the exact wording and the sigil itself pretty easily (some people destroy them for this reason). You’ll remember you did the thing and kind of what it was for. This doesn’t mean literal amnesia of course. This can be achieved in a variety of ways from trance to being overwhelmed by an experience (we’ll get more into that later). To get the message to the subconscious, we are going to reach a state of gnosis, where your conscious mind is essentially out to lunch, and the subconscious is open for business. This brings your subconscious into play AND takes your conscious mind out of play (if you just wrote it in words you would consciously think it every time you looked at it). This symbol will be a message to your subconscious mind (because symbols are the language of the subconscious). ![]() The basic process for using sigils is to decide what you want, create a unique original thing (usually a witchy little glyph) that symbolizes only what you want and nothing else. Discard what doesn’t work for you, and add anything that does work for you. It’s written from a chaos magick perspective, so while you may use strict rules from other traditions for their construction if you’d like, you are not required to do so.ĭisclaimer: I don’t believe in objective reality, this is just my opinion and what I’ve learned works for me. At the end I will touch on some of the more advanced things you may want to research further yourself. ![]() The Lannisters aren't lacking in leonine pride (and I guess Tommen also keeps cats?).This will give you a good understanding of most aspects of how to use sigils in basic sigil magick. The Starks can literally become their direwolves. The Targaryens are more than just a little attached to their dragons. But these sigils seem to be more than just cutesy accessories. Or rather, each house has a "sigil" to represent them on flags and shields and whatnot. There are the Starks, with their dogs and their poor impulse control, the Lannisters with their incest and their control issues, and the disgraced Targaryens, former rulers of the continent, now reduced to kicking it over in Fantasy Eurasia with a bunch of ungrateful baby dragons.Įach house has their own way of doing things, their own motto, and, perhaps most importantly of all, their own fun animal mascot. The plot of A Song of Ice and Fire follows a number of noble families duking it out over a very fancy chair (and also sometimes fighting zombies). If you've ever read the Song of Ice and Fire books, or seen the Game of Thrones TV show, then you probably have at least a vague idea of the Houses of Westeros.
